About We Can End Hunger

WeCanEndHunger is administered by the Virginia Community Action Partnership.  VACAP is the state association for Virginia’s 27 local and 3 statewide Community Action Agencies.

Jim Schuyler has been Executive Director of VACAP since December 2005.  Much of his career has been devoted to low-income housing and community policy and program development.

Ken Ackerman is the Project Manager for WeCanEndHunger, as well as for VirtualCAP (an electronic clearinghouse of information and materials on innovative anti-poverty initiatives from across the United States).  Ken began his work with Community Action in 1971 and served as Executive Director of the Monticello Area Community Action Agency in Charlottesville, Virginia for 24 years.  His involvement with food and nutrition and related programs has included USDA Child Care Feeding, USDA Summer Food for Children, Congregate Meals for the Elderly, Food Pantries, Holiday Food Baskets, Child Health, Family Self-Sufficiency, Community Outreach, Volunteers, Resource Development, and Advocacy.
